I love how easy it is to travel in and around Europe, trains aplenty and cheap air fares make visiting new countries and cities very easy indeed. I like to try and take advantage of this as often as I can and last month I headed off for a weekend in Paris. I have always loved France, it offers a tourist everything, bustling cities, beautiful scenery, stunning coastline and everything in between.
Despite traveling through France, I had never been to the capital so I hopped on the EuroStar from London to Paris and had an awesome weekend in the city. If you are heading to Paris for a short break then here are 3 super fun things that I did which I would recommend to you.
Float On The Seine
The River Seine is the vein that runs through the pumping heart of Paris and you can take a number of different boats and cruises along the River. On a tour of the Seine you will be able to see many of Paris’ main tourist attractions from Notre-Dame, The Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. If you go with your partner then one of the most romantic things to do in the city is to take a boat ride by night and dine as you float.
Climb The Tower
The Eiffel Tower is without question the main tourist attraction in the city and you naturally should visit it. I have some friends who have been to Paris and who were content with simply seeing the tower itself, that wasn’t enough for me, I simply had to get to the top. If you go to Paris then I would recommend that you too go to the peak of the tower, the views up there are simply breathtaking. There is an elevator that will take you up so don’t worry about climbing stairs.
Quite how the Mona Lisa became so famous is beyond me, in my opinion, there are far better works of art out there. Despite this, the painting is the most famous in the World and you can go and see it in the Louvre art gallery. The cost of entry for an adult is 15 Euros which is an awesome price for one of the World’s finest art galleries. The Mona Lisa is a little smaller than you might imagine and it will be surrounded by tourists but you will be able to lay your eyes upon on of the most famous paintings in the World.
France has so much to offer, I can’t wait to go back and if you have never been then I would urge you to go with haste. You could do what I did and head to Paris, visit the beautiful coast of Brittany, take a luxurious beach break in Monte Carlo or even visit the vineyards of the south on a wine tour.
A website that I like to use before I travel is France Voyage, they are experts when it comes to helping you plan a holiday in France. The company has been around since around 2003 but I just started using them last year and the France Voyage website is absolutely packed with up to date information about all of the resorts, towns, villages and cities in France and gives you the perfect way you plan your upcoming trip with an itinerary planner, better yet, it is free to use!! Go to France as soon as possible and use this great website to help you get there.
